The Producer Price Index for final demand increased 0.8 percent in May, seasonally adjusted, the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics reported today. … On an unadjusted basis, final demand prices moved up 10.8 percent for the 12 months ended in May.

Prices for final demand less foods, energy, and trade services moved up 0.5 percent in May after increasing 0.4 percent in April. For the 12 months ended in May, the index for final demand less foods, energy, and trade services rose 6.8 percent.

The consensus was for 0.8% increase in PPI, and a 0.6% increase in core PPI. PPI was at expectations, and core PPI was slightly below expectations.
