It’s a mixed bag of stocks to watch today…
Some former runners have returned to the watchlist, plus new runners on news and earnings. But most are on watch for dip buys. I’m not chasing or getting aggressive in this market.
Again, I’m trading small, swinging for singles, and not getting greedy. I only made two trades again yesterday. I missed some other plays, but it’s fine. The overall markets were ugly, so I’m adapting.
My goal is to protect my account at all costs.
And I aim to teach traders how to trade safe and repeatable patterns to grow their small accounts. Sometimes the best way to do that is to be conservative and stay in cash when there are no great plays.
Study these top 10 stocks to watch today and wait for YOUR best trades and setups.
You can literally do ANYTHING you set your mind to, just focus on what you love & have patience through the early frustrations and ups and downs. The most success you’ll achieve happens in the long run as this is a marathon NOT a sprint so be sure to have the proper perspective!

10 Stocks to Watch for Tuesday, May 18, 2021
Remember, this is a watchlist, not a ‘must trade’ list. I’m not always right, and I don’t trade everything I watch. That’s why you should never blindly follow or buy anyone’s stock picks — even mine.
But there’s always something you can learn.
Watch out for patterns that fit your strategy. Always have a trading plan for every trade. Here are some resources to help you get started:

If you’ve been following my blog and lessons, you know I love to trade low-priced stocks. (To learn more about trading penny stocks, get my FREE guide here.)
The stocks on this list aren’t penny stocks. Even if I rarely trade higher-priced stocks, their movements can still affect stocks within my price range. So to me, they’re worth watching.

Now, here are 10 top stocks to watch today…
Stocks to Watch Today #1: Filo Mining Corp. (OTCQX: FLMMF)
FLMMF is a Canadian mining company that explores for copper, gold, and silver in South America.
On Thursday the company announced “a significant new zone of high-grade copper, gold and silver mineralization at the Filo del Sol project in San Juan province, Argentina.”
Read the full press release here.
The stock went from $4 to almost $7 on Thursday. It consolidated Friday, then yesterday it had a multi-day breakout over $7. The stock trades low volume, so be careful with position sizes if you trade this stock. It could go higher, but I wouldn’t chase. Traders can watch for a morning panic dip-buy opportunity.
Stocks to Watch Today #2: Cricut, Inc. (NASDAQ: CRCT)
CRCT is a crafting company. Its Cricut cutter allows users to cut professional-looking letters, shapes, and decals for crafts.
The company reported first-quarter financial results last Thursday. Yesterday, the stock had a huge morning spike and breakout. Then it faded throughout the day. It could’ve been a short squeeze. It’s a failed breakout so traders can watch for a panic dip-buy opportunity.
Stocks to Watch Today #3: BioCryst Pharmaceuticals, Inc. (NASDAQ: BCRX)
BCRX is in the biotech sector. It markets a flu shot under multiple names.
Last week the company announced that the U.K. approved marketing for its new treatment of recurrent hereditary angioedema (HAE) attacks.
“In the pivotal Phase 3 APeX-2 trial, ORLADEYO significantly reduced attacks at 24 weeks, and this reduction was sustained through 48 weeks. HAE patients who completed 48 weeks of treatment (150 mg) saw reductions in their HAE attack rates, from a mean of 2.9 attacks per month at baseline to a mean of 1.0 attacks per month after 48 weeks of therapy.”

The stock broke out in the afternoon yesterday. Traders can watch for continued upside.
Stocks to Watch Today #4: Nuvve Holding Corp. (NASDAQ: NVVE)
Nuvve Holding Corp. develops technology for electric vehicles. Its platform allows electric vehicles to charge and sell unneeded electricity back to the grid.
Yesterday, NVVE reported first-quarter earnings and a new joint venture agreement. As part of the agreement, NVVE and Stonepeak Partners LP will form a new joint venture called Levo Mobility LLC.
“Levo expects to initially focus on electrifying school buses and associated charging infrastructure plus V2G services to provide safer and healthier transportation for children while supporting CO2 emission reduction, renewable energy integration, and improved grid resiliency. Levo also plans to work with commercial fleets such as last-mile delivery, ride hailing and ride sharing, and municipal services.”

“Stonepeak, along with its portfolio company Evolve Transition Infrastructure LP (‘Evolve’), plans to deploy up to an aggregate $750 million capital commitment to Levo.”
Evolve Transition Infrastructure LP is also a publicly traded company. It trades on the Nasdaq under the ticker SNMP. It’s a lower-priced stock that was also moving on news of the joint venture agreement.
Traders can watch NVVE for more potential upside.
Stocks to Watch Today #5: Peabody Energy Corporation (NYSE: BTU)
BTU is a coal-mining company that operates primarily in Asia.
It’s a multi-day runner. Yesterday it had a breakout over $7.15 and made a high of $8.70. There’s no recent news on the company so I wouldn’t chase it. Traders can watch for a dip-buy opportunity.
Stocks to Watch Today #6: Recon Technology, Ltd. (NASDAQ: RCON)
RCON provides tools and services to the oil and gas industry in China.
The latest news on the company is from May 5 when it announced its subsidiary entered a cooperation agreement with a Chinese car company.
The stock was on Friday’s watchlist for a breakout over $10.15 or a breakdown and dip-buy opportunity if it cracked below $8. Yesterday it barely broke out and hit a high of $10.20. It trades low volume. I’d prefer a catalyst for it to push higher.
Stocks to Watch Today #7: Iteris, Inc. (NASDAQ: ITI)
ITI is a transportation solutions company.
On May 11 it announced a $1.1 million contract with the city of San Antonio. Yesterday the stock went from roughly $6 to $7.65. Traders can watch for a dip-buy opportunity.
Stocks to Watch Today #8: Curis, Inc. (NASDAQ: CRIS)
CRIS is another hot biotech stock. It had a huge move last Wednesday until after hours. That’s when the company reported first-quarter financials and the stock tanked. On Thursday it had a huge morning panic and a bounce.
Yesterday the stock traded higher but on low volume and with no news. Traders can watch for another panic dip-buy opportunity. (Past performance is not indicative of future returns.)
Stocks to Watch Today #9: Funko, Inc. (NASDAQ: FNKO)
FNKO is a consumer cyclical stock. The company offers pop-culture consumer products like plush toys, action figures, and t-shirts.
It was on Friday’s watchlist after the Bank of America upgraded the stock. It gave it a buy rating and a price target of $30. The stock spiked big but rejected at the $25.50 resistance level. So it was on watch for a panic dip-buy opportunity. Instead, the stock traded higher.
But yesterday it barely broke out over $25.50. Traders can watch for a panic dip-buy opportunity.
Stocks to Watch Today #10: Verso Corporation (NYSE: VRS)
Yesterday in premarket, VRS announced the completed sale of its closed mill in Minnesota last week.
The stock has been trading higher since it had a huge gap up last week. Traders can watch for a dip-buy opportunity into a big panic.

Frequently Asked Questions About Stocks to Watch Today
What Are the Best Stocks to Trade as a Beginner?
My favorite stocks to trade are penny stocks. I think they’re a great way for beginners to learn the trading process with a small account.
Can You Get Rich Trading Stocks?
Don’t come into trading with a get-rich-quick mindset. Trading is a marathon, not a sprint. It can be a lucrative career but it takes years of hard work and dedication to learn the nuances of the market — which is what I teach.
How Much Money Do You Need To Start Trading Stocks?
Only start trading with money you can afford to lose. You can start small. In fact, I teach traders to focus on education first to learn the process, then slowly scale up over time.
Is Trading Stocks Risky?
All trading is risky. No trader is right 100% of the time. That’s why I keep my losses small by cutting losses quickly.
