Top Stocks to Watch Today: Tuesday, March 9

What’s driving the top stocks to watch today? Biotechs and low float stocks with news.

The major indexes saw a bit of life yesterday, driving some stocks up. And over the weekend the Senate approved the next round of stimulus checks.

Will the money find its way into the stock market? Who knows…

I’m not trying to guess what will happen. I’m in protection mode until I see volume and momentum come back into OTCs.

In times of uncertainty, it’s important to focus on your best setups. For me, that’s OTC morning panics. We’ve seen a lot of them lately, but they’re not all ideal. So I’m not being overly aggressive or overtrading.

Hopefully, you’re trading with rules and a risk management plan to protect your account. And remember, you don’t have to trade every day if there’s no ideal setup.

Here’s my list of the top 10 stocks to watch today…

10 Stocks to Watch for Tuesday, March 9, 2021

Remember, this is a watchlist, not a ‘must trade’ list. I’m not always right, and I don’t trade everything I watch. That’s why you should never blindly follow or buy anyone’s stock picks — even mine.

But there’s always something you can learn.

Watch out for patterns that fit your strategy. Always have a trading plan for every trade. Here are some resources to help you get started:

If you’ve been following my blog and lessons, you know I love to trade low-priced stocks. (To learn more about trading penny stocks, get my FREE guide here.)

The stocks on this list aren’t penny stocks. Even if I rarely trade higher-priced stocks, their movements can still affect stocks within my price range. So to me, they’re worth watching.

If you want to know which penny stocks I’m watching…

Now, here are 10 top stocks to watch today…

Stocks to Watch Today #1: Celldex Therapeutics, Inc. (NASDAQ: CLDX)

On Friday CLDX announced its participation in a fireside chat at the H.C. Wainwright Global Life Sciences Conference. The prerecorded session will be released at 7 a.m. Eastern today.

Yesterday the stock bounced big toward its recent highs of $30.17. Traders can watch for a breakout to new highs with more volume.

Stocks to Watch Today #2: McAfee Corp. (NASDAQ: MCFE)

Yesterday, MCFE announced it sold its enterprise software business for $4 billion cash. As part of the deal, shareholders will get a one-time dividend of $4.50 per share when the deal closes.

There are spreading rumors that the company might try to acquire NortonLifeLock Inc. (NASDAQ: NLOK). NLOK also moved yesterday on those rumors.

Stocks to Watch Today #3: Orchard Therapeutics plc (NASDAQ: ORTX)

ORTX is in the hot biotech sector. Last week the company announced fourth-quarter earnings and this news.

There’s no news so far this week, but yesterday, the stock traded higher than average volume. Traders can watch for a retest of the recent $9 high.

Stocks to Watch Today #4: Second Sight Medical Products, Inc. (NASDAQ: EYES)

EYES had a huge move on Friday after it announced the FDA approved its retinal prosthesis system.

On Friday the stock traded almost a billion in volume, which is impressive for a higher-priced stock.

The stock continued its upward momentum yesterday on high volume. As it gets overextended, traders can watch for a morning panic dip buy opportunity. Although Nasdaq stocks trade choppier compared to OTC panics.

Stocks to Watch Today #5: Veritiv Corporation (NASDAQ: VRTV)

VRTV was on Friday’s watchlist. The company released fourth-quarter earnings and a share buy-back plan last week.

The stock is holding its gains. It has a low float and could trigger a short squeeze if it breaks out over the recent high of $45.50.

Stocks to Watch Today #6: AmpliTech Group, Inc. (NASDAQ: AMPG)

Yesterday, AMPG announced the release of its low noise amplifiers for 5G, which can be used on satellites.

It has an ugly daily chart … But it also has a low float of under 6 million shares, so it could have a volatile move. A chat room was also pumping the stock on Twitter.

Stocks to Watch Today #7: Anchiano Therapeutics Ltd. (NASDAQ: ANCN)

ANCN is another stock in the hot biotech sector. It’s another low float stock that has the potential for a big move. But it also has a history of one-day spikes.

It’s on the watchlist for a morning panic dip buy opportunity.

Stocks to Watch Today #8: Greenwich LifeSciences, Inc. (NASDAQ: GLSI)

YEP, another hot biotech. Yesterday, the company announced it hired a new expert to lead its Phase 3 clinical trial.

In the afternoon the stock had a huge move from the $30s to the $50s. It’s also another low float stock and a former runner.

Stocks to Watch Today #9: Net Element, Inc. (NASDAQ: NETE)

NETE has a definitive agreement to merge with EV manufacturer Mullen Technologies, Inc.

Yesterday, Mullen announced a strategic partnership with a battery supplier for lithium-sulfur batteries which are lighter and come at a reduced cost to consumers.

NETE gapped up following the news but then retreated throughout the day. Traders can watch for a potential bounce. Again, it’s another low float stock with under 5 million shares in the float.

Stocks to Watch Today #10: Marinus Pharmaceuticals, Inc. (NASDAQ: MRNS)

MRNS is another biotech stock. It doesn’t have recent news since it announced its new logo and branding in February.

Yesterday the stock broke out above $17.14. Traders can watch for continued upside. The stock has a history of multi-day runs, but it likely needs a catalyst and more volume for a big move.

How I Find Stocks to Trade

There’s no big secret behind how I find stocks to trade. I always tell students to look at the biggest percent gainers on StocksToTrade.

Full disclosure: I helped develop StocksToTrade. I also invested in it. I wanted a tool to help me search specifically for the low-priced stocks I love to trade. I’m proud of it, and I truly believe this platform offers the top tools for traders to find and research stocks of any price.

STT has built-in watchlists, scans, beautiful charts, and all the indicators active traders need. It also has a social media feed and a news feed. And it includes broker integration so you can trade right from the platform.

I use it every day to find the stocks that fit my strategy — like volatile penny stocks with a catalyst and high volume.

And I credit the StocksToTrade Breaking News Chat feature for a huge portion of my over $1.1 million in profits in 2020.* The guys who run this service crank out breaking news FAST.

Try a 14-day trial of StocksToTrade with Breaking News Chat for only $17!

(*Please note: My results are far from typical. Individual results will vary. Most traders lose money. I have the benefit of years of hard work, dedication, and experience. Trading is inherently risky. Do your due diligence and never risk more than you can afford to lose.)

Frequently Asked Questions About Stocks to Watch Today

What Are the Best Stocks to Trade as a Beginner?

My favorite stocks to trade are penny stocks. I think they’re a great way for beginners to learn the trading process with a small account.

Can You Get Rich Trading Stocks?

Don’t come into trading with a get-rich-quick mindset. Trading is a marathon, not a sprint. It can be a lucrative career but it takes years of hard work and dedication to learn the nuances of the market — which is what I teach.

How Much Money Do You Need To Start Trading Stocks?

Only start trading with money you can afford to lose. You can start small. In fact, I teach traders to focus on education first to learn the process, then slowly scale up over time.

Is Trading Stocks Risky?

All trading is risky. No trader is right 100% of the time. That’s why I keep my losses small by cutting losses quickly.
