Top Stocks to Watch Today: Tuesday, March 16

There’s a variety of stocks to watch today, but one main theme…

Low float stocks. They can have extremely volatile moves to the upside and the downside. So risk management is essential for trading these stocks.

That’s especially true in this market. I’m still trading conservatively

And honestly, low float stocks aren’t my favorite stocks to trade. But this list of stocks to watch isn’t about me — it’s about YOU.

I have my niche, strategies, and patterns. But they don’t work for everyone. That’s why I put these lists together…

It’s another opportunity to find what works best for you.

Study the stocks on today’s watchlist and see what makes sense to you. When you find what clicks, make a trading plan.

And if you’re wrong, don’t forget rule #1 — cut losses quickly. That’s how you stay in the game to trade another day.

Now, here’s my list of the top 10 stocks to watch today…

10 Stocks to Watch for Tuesday, March 16, 2021

Remember, this is a watchlist, not a ‘must trade’ list. I’m not always right, and I don’t trade everything I watch. That’s why you should never blindly follow or buy anyone’s stock picks — even mine.

But there’s always something you can learn.

Watch out for patterns that fit your strategy. Always have a trading plan for every trade. Here are some resources to help you get started:

If you’ve been following my blog and lessons, you know I love to trade low-priced stocks. (To learn more about trading penny stocks, get my FREE guide here.)

The stocks on this list aren’t penny stocks. Even if I rarely trade higher-priced stocks, their movements can still affect stocks within my price range. So to me, they’re worth watching.

If you want to know which penny stocks I’m watching…

Now, here are 10 top stocks to watch today…

Stocks to Watch Today #1: American Airlines Group Inc. (NASDAQ: AAL)

Airlines and other reopening stocks made moves yesterday. AAL briefly hit a new 52-week high of $25.94. Traders can watch for continued upside.

As restrictions lift and the vaccines continue to roll out, there could be more upside in reopening stocks. But I never try to predict. Reopening could already be priced into some stocks. So there could be some ‘buy the rumor, sell the news’ type plays.

Stocks to Watch Today #2: Rubius Therapeutics, Inc. (NASDAQ: RUBY)

RUBY was on Thursday’s list of stocks to watch. It’s in the hot biotech sector and I noted to watch for a breakout with volume…

Yesterday the volume came in. The company released positive news from its Phase 1/2 clinical trial of its cancer treatment. The stock traded huge volume and went from $17.91 to a high of $38.71.

The stock could be overextended. Traders can watch for a morning panic dip buy opportunity.

(Disclaimer: Past performance is not indicative of future returns.)

Stocks to Watch Today #3: SOS Limited (NYSE: SOS)

SOS is a crypto mining company. Yesterday it announced its installation of 5,000 more bitcoin miners.

Traders can watch for continued upside. But there’s resistance around $9.

Stocks to Watch Today #4: Super League Gaming, Inc. (NASDAQ: SLGG)

SLGG is an e-sports content network. It was on Friday’s watchlist after it released acquisition news. Yesterday it announced it will continue its partnership with Topgolf Entertainment Group to broadcast events.

The stock gapped up but closed down on the day. It’s a recent runner with a low float, so it has volatile price swings. Traders can watch for a potential bounce and continued upside.

Stocks to Watch Today #5: Intec Pharma Ltd (NASDAQ: NTEC)

Yesterday NTEC announced a merger with another company. The stock had a huge gap up in the morning, from a previous closing price of $4.59 to a high of $13.70 in premarket. The stock opened at $7.01 and trended down.

The stock has a low float of under 4 million shares. Traders can watch for a potential bounce off support, which could create a short squeeze.

Stocks to Watch Today #6: Aemetis, Inc. (NASDAQ: AMTX)

AMTX is another biotech stock. The CEO is scheduled to present at a virtual conference from March 15–17.

Traders can watch for a multi-day breakout over yesterday’s high of $21.84.

Stocks to Watch Today #7: Sigma Labs, Inc. (NASDAQ: SGLB)

SGLB is a tech company that develops software for 3D printing businesses. The company announced a contract with Lockheed Martin yesterday.

It had a huge gap up from a previous close of $3.34 to open at $4.94. And it traded high volume, hitting a high of $9.75. The stock has a low float of under 10 million shares. Watch for potentially volatile moves.

Traders can watch for more upside with a short squeeze. Or there could be a morning panic dip buy opportunity if the stock gaps down.

Stocks to Watch Today #8: Amyris, Inc. (NASDAQ: AMRS)

Yep, another hot biotech stock. AMRS management is due to participate in a fireside chat at a virtual conference tomorrow.

There’s no other recent news on the company. It’s been uptrending since the start of 2021. It briefly broke out yesterday before retreating. Traders can watch for a morning panic dip buy due to the failed breakout.

Stocks to Watch Today #9: ViacomCBS Inc. (NASDAQ: VIAC)

VIAC’s chart is impressive for a large-cap stock. It’s been steadily uptrending for the last year. The most recent news on the company is the release of its new streaming service, Paramount. And there’s the reported viewership of its Prince Harry and Meghan Markle interview.

Yesterday the stock hit a high of $101.97. The $100 area could act as resistance. If this was a penny stock, I’d watch for a big morning panic and a first red day. But large-cap stocks aren’t as volatile as penny stocks. There could be a dip buy opportunity, though.

Stocks to Watch Today #10: Ocuphire Pharma, Inc. (NASDAQ: OCUP)

OCUP is another stock in the hot biotech sector. Yesterday it released positive news from its Phase 3 registration trial.

It has a low float of under 5 million shares. Traders can watch for a potential bounce and short squeeze.

How I Find Stocks to Trade

There’s no big secret behind how I find stocks to trade. I always tell students to look at the biggest percent gainers on StocksToTrade.

Full disclosure: I helped develop StocksToTrade. I also invested in it. I wanted a tool to help me search specifically for the low-priced stocks I love to trade. I’m proud of it, and I truly believe this platform offers the top tools for traders to find and research stocks of any price.

STT has built-in watchlists, scans, beautiful charts, and all the indicators active traders need. It also has a social media feed and a news feed. And it includes broker integration so you can trade right from the platform.

I use it every day to find the stocks that fit my strategy — like volatile penny stocks with a catalyst and high volume.

And I credit the StocksToTrade Breaking News Chat feature for a huge portion of my over $1.1 million in profits in 2020.* The guys who run this service crank out breaking news FAST.

Try a 14-day trial of StocksToTrade with Breaking News Chat for only $17!

(*Please note: My results are far from typical. Individual results will vary. Most traders lose money. I have the benefit of years of hard work, dedication, and experience. Trading is inherently risky. Do your due diligence and never risk more than you can afford to lose.)

Frequently Asked Questions About Stocks to Watch Today

What Are the Best Stocks to Trade as a Beginner?

My favorite stocks to trade are penny stocks. I think they’re a great way for beginners to learn the trading process with a small account.

Can You Get Rich Trading Stocks?

Don’t come into trading with a get-rich-quick mindset. Trading is a marathon, not a sprint. It can be a lucrative career but it takes years of hard work and dedication to learn the nuances of the market — which is what I teach.

How Much Money Do You Need To Start Trading Stocks?

Only start trading with money you can afford to lose. You can start small. In fact, I teach traders to focus on education first to learn the process, then slowly scale up over time.

Is Trading Stocks Risky?

All trading is risky. No trader is right 100% of the time. That’s why I keep my losses small by cutting losses quickly.
