Top Stocks to Watch Today: Thursday, July 1

Too many plays for the top stocks to watch today! Aye, aye, aye…

Yesterday, I was trading like a maniac — there were so many trading opportunities.

I’ve spent years refining my strategy. When I see plays that fit my strategy perfectly, I’m ready to react.

The key is being prepared.

I always have my watchlist at the ready with a strong list of potential trades to choose from.

Lately, we’ve had a ton of short squeezes that can lead to multi-day runs and opportunities through morning panics and dip buys…

But remember: always trade safe and swing for singles.

Here are the top 10 stocks to watch today…

10 Stocks to Watch for Thursday, July 1, 2021

Remember, this is a watchlist, not a ‘must trade’ list. I’m not always right, and I don’t trade everything I watch. That’s why you should never blindly follow or buy anyone’s stock picks — even mine.

But there’s always something you can learn.

Watch out for patterns that fit your strategy. Always have a trading plan for every trade. Here are some resources to help you get started:

If you’ve been following my blog and lessons, you know I love to trade low-priced stocks. (To learn more about trading penny stocks, get my FREE guide here.)

The stocks on this list aren’t penny stocks. Even if I rarely trade higher-priced stocks, their movements can still affect stocks within my price range. So to me, they’re worth watching.

If you want to know which penny stocks I’m watching…

Now, here are 10 top stocks to watch today…

Stocks to Watch Today #1: Auddia Inc. (NASDAQ: AUUD)

Auddia Inc. is one of the higher-priced plays I’m watching. It just announced the release and national launch of its app ahead of schedule. Yesterday, the stock spiked over 30% on the news.

Read the full press release here.

With stocks like this, the price and volume usually decrease following news. That can attract shorts. Based on recent trends, that could lead to short squeezes. But I’ll be looking for panic dip-buy opportunities.

Stocks to Watch Today #2: Lightwave Logic, Inc. (OTCPK: LWLG)

This one has been off and on my radar for a few weeks now. Basic material stocks have been making runs lately, and LWLG falls into that category. The company develops photonic devices and materials for fiber-optic communications.

On June 16 LWLG announced positive test results about its new modulators.

Read the full press release here.

Since then, the stock’s been attracting a lot of attention. I’ve been enjoying the squeeze…

I’ve traded this multi-day runner a few times in the past few days. My timing wasn’t perfect…

I made a little money, but I don’t like to get aggressive late in the run.* I prefer re-buys into big panics.

Stocks to Watch Today #3: Marin Software Inc (NASDAQ: MRIN)

Short squeezes have been insane lately. Like LWLG, Marin Software Inc. is a perfect example.

This California-based advertising company is a Reddit fave. It’s also a low-float stock and former runner that started spiking on news of an Instacart integration with insane volume last week. Yet people insisted on shorting it…

Too many shorts piled in, and the squeeze was on. It opened at $9.31 on June 29 — and closed in the $17s. It’s a potential re-buy into any big panics, ideally morning panics…

Stocks to Watch Today #4: Vertex Energy Inc. (NASDAQ: VTNR)

Energy plays are hot lately, so it’s no big surprise that a stock like VTNR might make a move.

The stock was up 32% yesterday afternoon based on news. But beware — it just had an asset sale. That means the spike could be short-lived.

It’s still on my list, but be very careful with stocks like this…

Stocks to Watch Today #5: BSQUARE Corporation (NASDAQ: BSQR)

This Internet of Things software development company spiked BIG in the premarket on Tuesday, starting the day up 75%.

No real catalyst, but in the era of awesome short squeezes, BSQUARE remains a watch.

I’m watching this mid-range spiker for potential dip buys into any big morning panic. But remember — no short squeeze lasts forever. Remember to lock in profits along the way on the way up. Don’t overstay in choppy stocks like this.

Stocks to Watch Today #6: Bridgeline Digital Inc. (NASDAQ: BLIN)

I’ve traded BLIN before*…

This educational tech stock opened yesterday in the $4s but spiked all the way to the $8s. But despite people tweeting that there are “no walls,” I don’t believe any penny stock is a rocket that’s only on the way up.

Trade the hype — but don’t believe it. With stocks like this, it’s all about trading like a ninja and taking singles…

Stocks to Watch Today #7: Infobird Co Ltd (NASDAQ: IFBD)

IFBD is a Chinese software company.

But more importantly, it’s a low-priced stock with a lot of short interest. It’s also getting hyped up on Reddit.

It also has a history of running. When it had its initial public offering, it spiked all the way to the $11s — but fell fast.

Now, we’re seeing another run. On Tuesday, it started trading in the high $3s but peaked midday close to $6. I’ll be watching for big panics…

Stocks to Watch Today #8: Digital Brands Group Inc (NASDAQ: DBGI)

As the name implies, Digital Brands Group is a collection of luxury digital brands. A few days ago, DBGI reported earnings.

While the company had losses, they explained them away — and announced a potential upcoming acquisition.

Read more about the earnings report here.

I don’t care about the long-term prospects of this company. But I am interested in the fact that it had a decent spike yesterday afternoon. I’ll watch for more potential moves today…

Stocks to Watch Today #9: Hertz Global Holdings Inc (OTCPK: HTZGQ)

Hertz filed for bankruptcy not so long ago. Amateur traders loaded up on shares that might become worthless soon.

Now, the tables have turned. HTZGQ is coming out of bankruptcy, and there’s a lot of interest in the stock as the world reopens.

There’s a lot of Reddit hype around this stock, so I’ll be watching for potential panic dip buys…

Stocks to Watch Today #10: Atossa Therapeutics Inc. (NASDAQ: ATOS)

Penny stock no more! Atossa Therapeutics has been having quite a run as a top-mentioned stock on the Reddit penny stock page. It attracted so much attention — and demand — that it ceased being a penny stock.

It went nearly to $10 on June 25 after a week of insane gains. But this Monday, it was back down in the $7s.

Yesterday afternoon, it was in the $6s.

Despite Redditors calling out ‘paper hands’ traders for selling, plenty of people have been adding on the dip. With continued attention and volume, it could still have room to run…

Frequently Asked Questions About Stocks to Watch Today

What Are the Best Stocks to Trade as a Beginner?

My favorite stocks to trade are penny stocks. I think they’re a great way for beginners to learn the trading process with a small account.

Can You Get Rich Trading Stocks?

Don’t come into trading with a get-rich-quick mindset. Trading is a marathon, not a sprint. It can be a lucrative career but it takes years of hard work and dedication to learn the nuances of the market — which is what I teach.

How Much Money Do You Need To Start Trading Stocks?

Only start trading with money you can afford to lose. You can start small. In fact, I teach traders to focus on education first to learn the process, then slowly scale up over time.

Is Trading Stocks Risky?

All trading is risky. No trader is right 100% of the time. That’s why I keep my losses small by cutting losses quickly.

*Please note that these kinds of trading results are not typical. Most traders lose money. It takes years of dedication, hard work, and discipline to learn how to trade. Individual results will vary. Trading is inherently risky. Before making any trades, remember to do your due diligence and never risk more than you can afford to lose.
