Top Stocks to Watch Today: Thursday, February 11

My list of stocks to watch today is full of variety. But most have one thing in common…

It’s what excites traders about stocks and builds hype … And that’s exactly what I want to take advantage of in my trading.

So what causes all this hype and excitement?

News.

You gotta read the news. And you have to pay attention to what’s going on with world events. That’s how you can recognize when a sector might have potential.

I don’t know how long all these hot sectors can last. But you have to learn to take advantage of the opportunities when they present themselves.

Don’t just follow my picks. Learn why I’m watching these stocks, then make your own trading plan.

Preparation is key if you want to take advantage of this hot market. So study up!

Here’s my list of top 12 stocks to watch today.

12 Stocks to Watch for Thursday, February 11, 2021

Remember, this is a watchlist, not a ‘must trade’ list. I’m not always right, and I don’t trade everything I watch. That’s why you should never blindly follow or buy anyone’s stock picks — even mine.

But there’s always something you can learn.

Watch out for patterns that fit your strategy. Always have a trading plan for every trade. Here are some resources to help you get started:

If you’ve been following my blog and lessons, you know I love to trade low-priced stocks. (To learn more about trading penny stocks, get my FREE guide here.)

But you’ll notice that not all of the stocks on this list are technically penny stocks. Even if I rarely trade higher-priced stocks, their movements can still affect stocks within my price range, so they’re worth watching.

Here are my 12 top stocks to watch today…

Stocks to Watch Today #1: India Globalization Capital, Inc. (NYSE: IGC)

IGC is a former runner. Yesterday it had a multi-month breakout over $2.66. It traded high volume relative to its float so I’ll watch for it to continue upward.

If it can break out over the $3.50 range, it could have a giant short squeeze.

Stocks to Watch Today #2: Neptune Wellness Solutions Inc. (NASDAQ: NEPT)

Yesterday, NEPT announced it acquired a controlling interest in an organic, plant-based baby food company.

The stock gapped up yesterday morning to a high of $6 in premarket. It opened at $3.60 and dipped to a low of $2.88 and bounced. It held support around $3 throughout the day. I’ll watch for it to hold and bounce back to the $3.60 high.

A breakout over $3.60 could create a huge move, especially with high volume.

Stocks to Watch Today #3: Plus Therapeutics, Inc. (NASDAQ: PSTV)

PSTV is a former runner with a history of volatile moves due to its low float of under 5 million shares.

Yesterday the stock started squeezing shorts from $3.50 to almost $5.50 per share. It was halted multiple times due to volatility on the way up and on the way down. After the squeeze, the stock was back to trading in the $3.50 range.

PSTV is in the hot biotech sector, has a low float, and has recent news. I’ll watch for the high volume to continue and a multi-month breakout over $3.60.

Stocks to Watch Today #4: Artelo Biosciences, Inc. (NASDAQ: ARTL)

On Monday, ARTL announced it received $3 million in proceeds from the exercise of warrants.

I’m watching this stock because it’s in the hot biotech sector. Plus, it has news, high volume, and is close to a multi-month breakout over yesterday’s highs of $2.12.

Stocks to Watch Today #5: Barrel Energy, Inc. (OTCPK: BRLL)

Midday yesterday, BRLL announced it signed a memorandum of understanding to enter a partnership with an India-based company for lithium battery development.

The stock has been running since late January. It’s getting overextended now … But with this news, and in this hot market, it could keep running.

If it gaps down, I’ll watch for a morning panic dip buy opportunity.

Stocks to Watch Today #6: Bio-Path Holdings, Inc. (NASDAQ: BPTH)

BPTH is another biotech stock. If you’ve been in the market for a while, you might remember this stock’s huge run in March 2019. That’s when it went from $17 to $73 in one day.

Like PSTV, this stock has volatile moves because of its low float of under 5 million shares. Yesterday, the company announced its new patent to protect its drug technology.

The stock gapped from the previous close of $5.20 to open at $15.87. It spiked to a high of $24.34 before fading off. I’ll watch for a quick short squeeze if it can find support and bounce.

Stocks to Watch Today #7: Torchlight Energy Resources, Inc. (NASDAQ: TRCH)

Yesterday, TRCH announced the closing of its previous offering, which resulted in $27.6 million in proceeds for the company. The stock soared from $1.84 to $3.14 and also had a multi-day breakout.

The stock traded higher volume than it ever has, so I’ll watch for it to continue its momentum higher.

Stocks to Watch Today #8: Seneca Biopharma, Inc. (NASDAQ: SNCA)

SNCA appears to be running solely on hot sector momentum. It’s in the biotech sector but has no recent news. But yesterday it traded higher than average volume and had a multi-day breakout over $1.92.

The stock’s been uptrending since December 2020. But this one’s choppy — not my favorite price action.

Stocks to Watch Today #9: CBD Life Sciences Inc. (OTCPK: CBDL)

CBDL’s wholly-owned subsidiary LBC Bioscience Inc. sells a full line of CBD products for people and pets. Yesterday the company announced it’s in the final stages of listing its hemp products on Amazon.

The stock had a huge gap up and then faded. But if it can hold the multi-day breakout level of $0.012, it could potentially bounce and retest highs.

Stocks to Watch Today #10: Arcadia Biosciences, Inc. (NASDAQ: RKDA)

RKDA is another former runner. It’s in the agriculture business which could be getting attention due to hot marijuana sector momentum.

The company’s most recent news is from February 2 when it announced the Association of Official Seed Certifying Agencies (AOSCA) certified its hemp seeds.

Stocks to Watch Today #11: BOQI International Medical Inc. (NASDAQ: BIMI)

BIMI is another low float former runner. This Chinese company yesterday announced it completed acquisition of a minimally invasive hospital.

This is another choppy stock, but it has the potential for volatile moves and short squeezes.

Stocks to Watch Today #12: One Step Vending Corp. (OTCPK: KOSK)

Yesterday KOSK announced the appointment of a new company president and board member.

The stock spiked on high volume, had a breakout over $0.014, and hit a high of $0.028. I’ll watch for the stock to hold the breakout level and retest the highs.
