Top Stocks to Watch Today: Thursday, April 29

If you’ve been paying attention, you’ll likely recognize many of the top stocks to watch today from previous posts.

That’s because recent runners often offer more than one opportunity for a trade. Especially stocks that run for multiple days.

So just because these are the top stocks to watch today, that doesn’t mean you should stop watching them after today. Keep them on your watchlist.

Stay in tune with the market. Watch recent runners. It’s not just about what the next hot stock pick will be. Learn to take advantage of what the market gives you.

There’s a reason I trade the same stocks multiple times. When a stock is hot, you need to take advantage of it.

I always expect the worst out of every company, so I prefer to dip buy. But if you like breakouts, watch for multi-day runners close to breakout levels. When you build your strategy, it’s not about what works for me…

It’s about what works for you.

And the reality is that nobody can predict what a stock will do. Don’t even try. That’s why this is a watchlist. I’m giving you stocks to watch. It’s up to you to make a trading plan that fits your strategy, then react.

Here are the top 10 stocks to watch today…

10 Stocks to Watch for Thursday, April 29, 2021

Remember, this is a watchlist, not a ‘must trade’ list. I’m not always right, and I don’t trade everything I watch. That’s why you should never blindly follow or buy anyone’s stock picks — even mine.

But there’s always something you can learn.

Watch out for patterns that fit your strategy. Always have a trading plan for every trade. Here are some resources to help you get started:

If you’ve been following my blog and lessons, you know I love to trade low-priced stocks. (To learn more about trading penny stocks, get my FREE guide here.)

The stocks on this list aren’t penny stocks. Even if I rarely trade higher-priced stocks, their movements can still affect stocks within my price range. So to me, they’re worth watching.

If you want to know which penny stocks I’m watching…

Now, here are 10 top stocks to watch today…

Stocks to Watch Today #1: Ocugen, Inc. (NASDAQ: OCGN)

OCGN is a recent runner on news from last week. That’s when it announced Phase 3 trial results showed its COVID-19 vaccine is 78% effective after the second dose.

Two days later the company announced a secondary offering of 10 million shares at $10. Read the full press release here.

The offering has since closed. The stock is trading sideways as of this writing. Traders can watch for a short squeeze if the stock gets above $12. Or if it breaks down, watch for a morning panic dip-buy opportunity.

Stocks to Watch Today #2: Everi Holdings Inc. (NYSE: EVRI)

EVRI is trading higher after an analyst at B. Riley initiated coverage with a $25 price target.

The stock already has six green days in a row. It could be getting overextended. I wouldn’t chase. Traders can watch for dip-buy opportunities.

Stocks to Watch Today #3: Casper Sleep Inc. (NYSE: CSPR)

CSPR was on Tuesday’s watchlist after it ran on an analyst upgrade. Wedbush Securities upgraded the stock from neutral to outperform.

The stock’s holding up well. Traders can watch for a multi-day breakout over $9.40 with ideally more volume.

Stocks to Watch Today #4: Mudrick Capital Acquisition Corporation II (NASDAQ: MUDS)

MUDS is a special purpose acquisition company (SPAC). On April 6 it announced that sports card firm Topps will go public through a merger. The company wants to enter the digital age through the blockchain or NFT space.

Read the full press release here.

The stock has been uptrending since the announcement. Traders can watch for a panic dip buy opportunity.

Stocks to Watch Today #5: Alpine 4 Holdings, Inc. (OTCQB: ALPP)

ALPP is a former runner. I traded it a ton during its run-up between November 2020 and January 2021. (See all my ALPP trades here.*) And I traded it again yesterday…

The company announced its subsidiary entered into an agreement to acquire another company.

Read the full press release here.

I bought it after StocksToTrade Breaking News Chat alerted the news. It had already spiked so I waited to dip buy it. I bought 5,000 shares at $5.13 and sold at $5.35. I made a profit of $1,100.*

The stock is already up a lot from its recent lows. It looks like a #6 from my 7-step framework. I won’t get aggressive. I’ll watch for dip-buying opportunities into big panic only.

Stocks to Watch Today #6: MicroVision, Inc. (NASDAQ: MVIS)

MVIS is on this list for the third time. (Past performance is not indicative of future results.) It’s running on Reddit chat room hype.

On Tuesday’s watchlist, I said to watch for a dip-buy opportunity into a big panic. It had a huge panic but only offered small bounces … until yesterday…

The company announced its long-range lidar sensor sample was complete.

CEO Sumit Sharma said, “With an expected range of 250 meters and a field of view of 100 degrees horizontal by 30 degrees vertical, we expect this lidar sensor to provide the highest resolution point cloud at 10.8 million points per second while operating at 30 hertz. Additionally, this lidar sensor is designed to be immune to interference from sunlight and other lidars.”

Read the full press release here.

That’s when the stock bounced and squeezed a few dollars per share. But it looked weak into the close. Traders can watch for a morning panic dip-buy opportunity.

Stocks to Watch Today #7: Golden Matrix Group, Inc. (OTCPK: GMGI)

GMGI was one of last Thursday’s top stocks to watch for a dip-buy opportunity after it had a breakout. Since then, the stock continued higher and had a huge short squeeze on Tuesday.  (Past performance is not indicative of future results.)

Yesterday it had its first red day. Traders can watch for a dip-buy opportunity into more panic. This one trades lower volume so watch your position size.

Stocks to Watch Today #8: PLBY Group, Inc. (NASDAQ: PLBY)

PLBY was also on Tuesday’s list of stocks to watch today after it had a breakout over $50.

Since then it’s bouncing between roughly $49 and $55. Volume is fading. Traders can watch for a potential morning panic dip-buy opportunity.

Stocks to Watch Today #9: Clover Health Investments, Corp. (NASDAQ: CLOV)

CLOV is a healthcare insurance provider. It has no recent news. It’s getting mentioned on the WallStreetBets Reddit chat as a potential short squeeze.

It’s trading higher than average volume, and yesterday it broke out above multi-day resistance of $10.57. Traders can watch for more upside if it continues to trade high volume. The company is also due to report first-quarter financial results on May 17.

Stocks to Watch Today #10: Brooklyn ImmunoTherapeutics, Inc. (NYSE: BTX)

BTX is a biotech company. There have been a ton of hot runners in this sector lately. It’s another company with no recent news. But on April 20 the company filed this Form 4 showing a change in beneficial ownership.

The stock has been up-trending since. Yesterday it gapped down but came back and had a massive short squeeze. I wouldn’t chase it. It’s on watch for a dip-buy opportunity into a big panic.

Frequently Asked Questions About Stocks to Watch Today

What Are the Best Stocks to Trade as a Beginner?

My favorite stocks to trade are penny stocks. I think they’re a great way for beginners to learn the trading process with a small account.

Can You Get Rich Trading Stocks?

Don’t come into trading with a get-rich-quick mindset. Trading is a marathon, not a sprint. It can be a lucrative career but it takes years of hard work and dedication to learn the nuances of the market — which is what I teach.

How Much Money Do You Need To Start Trading Stocks?

Only start trading with money you can afford to lose. You can start small. In fact, I teach traders to focus on education first to learn the process, then slowly scale up over time.

Is Trading Stocks Risky?

All trading is risky. No trader is right 100% of the time. That’s why I keep my losses small by cutting losses quickly.
