Top Stocks to Watch Today: Friday, May 14

If you like dip buys, you’ll love the top stocks to watch today!

I love dip buys. And I hate chasing stocks. They can’t go up forever. That’s why I’m patient and wait for the best trades to come to me. I think you should do the same…

Even if it means waiting for a day or two or three.

A few days ago I said I was adapting to the market and I only took two trades. Well, yesterday I didn’t trade at all. That’s right — zero, nil, nada.

If there are no great trades that fit my patterns, I’m not gonna trade.

And if you think I’m crazy for not trading, you need to change your mindset.

Watch my 15-minute video lesson on the importance of adapting. You must modulate your trading based on the market environment. It’s key to your success…

Overtrading leads to unnecessary losses. Then traders increase their size and risk trying to make losses back. It’s a slippery slope. And it usually leads to account blow-ups.

Instead, study and prepare when there are no great plays.

Study these top 10 stocks to watch today and prepare for YOUR best trades.

10 Stocks to Watch for Friday, May 14, 2021

Remember, this is a watchlist, not a ‘must trade’ list. I’m not always right, and I don’t trade everything I watch. That’s why you should never blindly follow or buy anyone’s stock picks — even mine.

But there’s always something you can learn.

Watch out for patterns that fit your strategy. Always have a trading plan for every trade. Here are some resources to help you get started:

If you’ve been following my blog and lessons, you know I love to trade low-priced stocks. (To learn more about trading penny stocks, get my FREE guide here.)

The stocks on this list aren’t penny stocks. Even if I rarely trade higher-priced stocks, their movements can still affect stocks within my price range. So to me, they’re worth watching.

If you want to know which penny stocks I’m watching…

Now, here are 10 top stocks to watch today…

Stocks to Watch Today #1: Moxian, Inc. (NASDAQ: MOXC)

MOXC is a Chinese social media and business platform. It has been on this watchlist in the past. It’s a strong multi-day runner with no catalyst and low volume.

I wouldn’t chase it up here. Traders can watch for a dip-buy opportunity into a big panic.

Stocks to Watch Today #2: eGain Corporation (NASDAQ: EGAN)

EGAN is a tech company that provides cloud-based software solutions.

The company reported fiscal third-quarter results on Tuesday. And on Wednesday, it announced that management will present at the Annual Needham Virtual Technology & Media Conference on May 17 at 3:45 p.m. Eastern.

It was on watch yesterday for continued upside, but instead, the stock consolidated. Now it’s setting up for a potential multi-day breakout over $10.75. I’d like to see more volume for it to break out.

Stocks to Watch Today #3: Comstock Holding Companies, Inc. (NASDAQ: CHCI)

CHCI is a property management company. It’s another stock from yesterday’s watchlist. It doesn’t have any recent news but it’s a low float stock. They’ve been hot lately.

It’s trading higher than average volume and could have a volatile move. But it likely needs a catalyst to push higher. Traders can watch for a dip-buy opportunity into a big panic.

Stocks to Watch Today #4: MultiPlan Corporation (NYSE: MPLN)

MPLN is a data and tech company that offers solutions to the healthcare industry.

Yesterday it moved higher after reporting first-quarter earnings. It’s not a super volatile stock, but it has a history of multi-day runs. Traders can watch for continued upside.

Stocks to Watch Today #5: Cornerstone Building Brands, Inc. (NYSE: CNR)

CNR is a building supply company that specializes in windows, siding, and commercial metal buildings.

In after-hours on Wednesday, it announced first-quarter financial results. Yesterday the stock gapped up and spiked, then faded throughout the day. Traders can watch for a panic dip-buy opportunity.

Stocks to Watch Today #6: Recon Technology, Ltd. (NASDAQ: RCON)

RCON provides tools and services to the oil and gas industry in China.

The latest news on the company is from May 5 when it announced its subsidiary entered a cooperation agreement with a Chinese car company.

Read the full press release here.

The stock has been trading sideways near its recent highs between $8 and $10. It’s another low float stock with roughly three million shares. But it’s also trading low volume. Traders can watch for a breakout over $10, ideally with a catalyst. Or watch for a breakdown below $8 and a panic dip-buy opportunity.

Stocks to Watch Today #7: Mesa Royalty Trust (NYSE: MTR)

MTR is another low float stock that had a massive move on no news. In two days it went from $4.25 to $7.74. Yesterday it traded high volume and tanked back to the $4s.

Traders can watch for a morning panic dip buy opportunity.

Stocks to Watch Today #8: SilverBow Resources, Inc. (NYSE: SBOW)

SBOW is an oil and gas company. And yep, it’s another low float. This one has roughly five million shares in the float.

The stock has been uptrending for a week. It was on yesterday’s watchlist for a potential morning panic dip-buy opportunity. But the stock held up and consolidated. It’s still on watch for a dip-buy opportunity into a big panic.

Stocks to Watch Today #9: Funko, Inc. (NASDAQ: FNKO)

FNKO is a consumer cyclical stock. The company offers pop-culture consumer products like plush toys, action figures, and t-shirts.

Yesterday the stock had a big move after the Bank of America upgraded the stock to a buy rating and upped its price target to $30.

The stock rejected at the resistance level at around $25. Traders can watch for a panic dip buy opportunity.

Stocks to Watch Today #10: InnSuites Hospitality Trust (AMEX: IHT)

Yep, another low float runner. IHT has no news but it’s getting a ton of attention on Twitter.

It was on yesterday’s watchlist for a panic dip-buy opportunity but instead, it had a morning spike.

It’s still on watch for a dip-buy opportunity into a big panic and a potential bounce.

Frequently Asked Questions About Stocks to Watch Today

What Are the Best Stocks to Trade as a Beginner?

My favorite stocks to trade are penny stocks. I think they’re a great way for beginners to learn the trading process with a small account.

Can You Get Rich Trading Stocks?

Don’t come into trading with a get-rich-quick mindset. Trading is a marathon, not a sprint. It can be a lucrative career but it takes years of hard work and dedication to learn the nuances of the market — which is what I teach.

How Much Money Do You Need To Start Trading Stocks?

Only start trading with money you can afford to lose. You can start small. In fact, I teach traders to focus on education first to learn the process, then slowly scale up over time.

Is Trading Stocks Risky?

All trading is risky. No trader is right 100% of the time. That’s why I keep my losses small by cutting losses quickly.
